The Raimund Friedrich Kaindl-Gesellschaft e.V.
(Years of Activity: 1974 - 2002)
(Raimund Friedrich Kaindl Society) was established in 1974, in honor of R. F.
Kaindl, a turn-of-the-century historian who wrote some of the first histories
of the ethnic Germans in Bukovina and the Carpathians. He was a professor of
history at the Franz Josef University in Czernowitz and after World War I at
the University of Graz in Austria. Its annual publication,
Kaindl-Archiv (Kaindl Archives), features articles on historical
and literary themes as well as on prominent personages from Bukovina. The
Kaindl Society also continues the genealogical work initiated by its first
president, Dr. Herbert Mayer.
