The Third Annual Bukovina Fest  was a huge success, setting a record attendance of well over 300 at meetings, with 315 at the banquet and dance.  The Bukovina Society board has set the Fourth Annual convention for July 16th through 19th, 1992 at Ellis, Kansas.  There have been two family reunions committed for the 1992 Festival.  This is an efficient way to conduct a reunion, as the society assists in coordinating activities.

OKTOBERFEST 1992 (Oct. 11) in Hays will see the Bukovina Society having a booth for the first time. Our goal will be to further public information on the society and its programs, and to sell items for fund raising.  Anyone interested in working at the booth or other help, please contact Joe Erbert in Ellis or Ernie Honas in Hays.  Society president Honas has also made plans for the visibility at the school reunions and other events with Bukovina Germans in attendance.

BE A BUKOVINA LIFER.  Memberships for one year ending at the next annual convention are due, except for those who paid at the Third Festival.  Enclosed is a form to return to the secretary.  Please pay special attention to the lifetime member opportunity.  For only $150.00 you can be a permanent member and not pay annual dues.  The membership fee will be put in a special endowment by the society with only the interest earnings used for membership expenses.  This will give a secure financial footing to your young society.  Recognition will be given to life members in the BULLetin and at the annual meeting.

THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS has elected a new leadership for the ensuing year as listed above. Special committees will be chaired by Ray Schoenthaler for the museum operations, and. Ray Haneke for the volunteer staffing. Through their efforts, the headquarters and museum has been open on a limited basis to the public and well received. The goal is to expand the hours next year. An air conditioner donated by Frank Schneller has made the area comfortable.

No Newsletter mail outs will be made to non-members, except the announcement of the annual meeting in the spring of 1992.
